Shaper Capital

Cary investment firm started in 2023 by Travis May, co-founder and former CEO of LiveRamp and Datavant, after he moved back to Cary from the Bay Area in 2020. Shaper describes itself as May's family office and co-founds data and middleware businesses; May is co-founder and board chair of Protege, Arbital Health, Fractional AI, Adelphi, Zenith Health and Catena. Its first Triangle investment was BeamRail's $700K pre-seed in January 2026, which Shaper led with Flex Capital participating. BeamRail's founder had been an entrepreneur in residence at Shaper for the two months before the company spun out.
