Company research, checked records, and tools for your team.
Bring a company roster, a research question about Raleigh–Durham–Chapel Hill–RTP startups, or a tool your team needs. Adam will define the scope with you and provide a project quote before work begins.

Adam checks information about the companies in your program, portfolio, or regional list against dated records and public sources.
Example questions
- Which companies on our list have been acquired, closed, renamed, or moved out of the Triangle, and what's the dated source for each?
Adam matches each company by its website and checks current public sources, counting a move as leaving Wake, Durham, Orange, and Chatham counties. Companies he can't confirm go on an unresolved list rather than being marked closed.
- Which Triangle startups in your record match our sectors and stages but aren't on our list yet?
Adam filters the record to your criteria and checks each name against your list by website, since company names repeat. The record doesn't include every Triangle company, and each name links to its profile and sources.
- Which of the Triangle companies we'd like to work with had a dated public event in the last 60 days, such as a raise, an SEC filing, a product launch, an award, or an announced partnership?
Adam checks each company's newsroom, filings, and website and lists what he finds by date, with sources. Companies with nothing in the window are marked 'nothing found', not inactive.
What you receive
- A dated roster with source links for the fields checked.
- Missing information and proposed corrections to stale records.
- Unresolved gaps and the questions that need further checking.
The scope covers the company list, fields to check, sources, and review date.
Scoped research
Adam investigates a company, sector, or defined group of startups to help your team make a decision.
Example questions
- Which Triangle startups have a raise on public record from the last 90 days, with the amount and the lead investor where one was announced? Which of them appear only in an SEC filing?
Expect a short list, newest first, with each date marked as the announcement or the SEC filing date. A filing-only raise is one reported to the SEC but not announced; those rows read 'no announcement found' as of the check date and name no investors, since the filings don't list them.
- Before our first meeting with a Triangle company, what does the public record show about its funding, its founders' published backgrounds, and its dated news, awards, or regulatory clearances?
Adam rechecks the record against live sources and sends a one- or two-page brief, with a link for every item and a list of what he couldn't confirm. Part of it is already free on the company's profile.
- For the Triangle startups we already work with, which other Triangle startups share a disclosed investor, a grant round, an accelerator cohort, or a founder's university or former employer named in a published bio?
Each tie comes with its source, investors that back dozens of local startups are marked as broad ties, and clients with no public ties are listed separately. Triangle Startups reports public ties only and doesn't make introductions.
What you receive
- A brief that leads with the findings and their implications.
- Supporting company records, comparisons, or a cohort analysis.
- Documented sources, methods, and limits of the evidence.
The scope covers the question, geography, audience, and research depth. The brief distinguishes findings from estimates and interpretations.
Company and job discovery pages
Give your audience a focused place to explore a defined group of companies or the roles those companies publish.
Example questions
- Can you keep a weekly page of open roles at our Triangle-based portfolio or program companies, with each role linked to the company's own job board?
Each role shows the date it was last confirmed on that board and comes off when the posting does. The page notes any company whose board can't be read.
- Can you keep a page of Triangle startups founded by our alumni, with each company's profile and the roles it posts on its own job board?
Alumni ties come from founders' published education records, so the page lists the companies alumni founded, not every place alumni work.
What you receive
- A page organized around the audience and company roster.
- Company or role links with the relevant context and source dates.
- An agreed update schedule and a way to report corrections.
The scope covers the roster, sources, where the page will be hosted, and the maintenance period. The directory and jobs page show existing examples.
Scoped tools
Turn a defined research or company-discovery task into a workflow your team can use.
Example questions
- Can you set up a monthly export of new public events for the companies on our list, such as raises, SEC filings, and acquisitions, in a format our CRM imports? Before we commit, how many would our list have produced over the past year?
That past-year count comes first, so the volume is clear before anything is agreed. Each item carries a date, one factual line, and a source, and quiet months are reported as quiet.
- Which Triangle startups have SBIR or STTR awards in federal records from the last two years, and can that list update as new awards post?
SBIR and STTR are federal research grants and contracts for small companies. Each award links to its federal record with phase, agency, and date, and recent months fill in late because the award databases lag.
What you receive
- A working tool for the task and users defined in the scope.
- Documented inputs and outputs, plus a walkthrough with your team.
- Instructions for using the tool, including ownership and maintenance.
Adam will review the data, hosting, access, and handoff requirements with you before quoting a build. Tools work on public company records only and don't collect contact details, send messages, or automate LinkedIn accounts.

Useful starting details
- The question or goal, the time window and places it covers, and a company roster with each company's website if you have one.
- Who will use the result and what they need to decide.
- Your deadline and budget, if known.
Projects are quoted after the deliverable, scope, and timing are agreed. Ongoing updates or support are scoped separately. Triangle Startups doesn't sell contact details, write outreach, or make introductions, and payment doesn't change any company's listing, ordering, corrections, or coverage.
